Tapestries Tapices

Born in Uruguay and living in Spain since 1982, Liliana studied tapestry in Uruguay with Ernesto Aroztegui, a master of the Uruguayan tapestry renewal during the 70´s.

She exhibited at the second Wool Tapestry Biennial, held at Montevideo in 1980 and has had several other exhibitions in France and Spain. In Valencia, she has taught the technique of Haute Lisse tapestry in different cultural centres.

For the majority of her work she mainly uses cotton for the warp and for the weft, different materials such as wool, vegetable fibres like raffia, string, jute and other elements according to the composition.

In all her work, she always strives to harmonize not only the design but also the multiple materials and colours.

Nacida en Uruguay, vive en España desde el año 1982. Liliana estudia la técnica de la tapicería en Uruguay con Ernesto Aroztegui, maestro de la renovación de la tapicería Uruguaya durante los años 70.

Participa en la segunda Bienal de la Tapicería de lana, en agosto de 1980, en Montevideo, realizando también otras exposiciones en Francia y en España. En Valencia, ha enseñado la técnica de la tapicería de Alto Liso en diferentes centros culturales.

Para la mayoría de sus creaciones, utiliza algodón para la urdimbre, y para la trama, diferentes materiales como la lana, fibras vegetales como la rafia, cuerda, yute, y también muy diversos elementos en función de la composición.

La expresión de sus motivos, tanto abstractos como figurativos, busca armonizar tanto el diseño como las materias y los colores.

Elle a participé à la 2ème Biennale de la tapisserie de laine, août 1980 à Montevideo, et aussi exposé en France et en Espagne. À Valencia elle a enseigné la technique de la tapisserie haute lisse dans différents centres culturels.

Pour la majorité de ses créations, elle utilise du coton pour la chaîne, et pour la trame différents matériaux dont la laine, des fibres végétales comme la raphia, la ficelle, la jute, et divers éléments en fonction de la composition.

L´expression de ses motifs, tant abstraits que figuratifs, cherche à harmoniser tant le dessin que les matières et les couleurs.
